According to preliminary reports, the incident occurred around 12:26 p.m. in the 5100 block of South Wood Street. Authorities say two unidentified male suspects approached a group gathered outside and opened fire, striking multiple individuals before fleeing the scene.
Emergency responders arrived quickly and transported victims to nearby hospitals, including Stroger Hospital, University of Chicago Hospital, and Mount Sinai Hospital.
Among the victims:
- A 54-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound to the ankle and is in fair condition.
- A 32-year-old man suffered gunshot wounds to the torso and is reported in good condition.
- A 30-year-old woman sustained injuries to her thigh and hand and is in fair condition.
