Umberto Albert “Bert” De Luca, age 86, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2026, in Fort Pierce, Florida, surrounded by his loving family. His passing marks the end of a remarkable life defined by compassion, hard work, and an unwavering commitment to both family and community.

After building a new life in the United States, he became a beloved figure in Port St. Lucie, Florida, where he owned and operated Grandpa’s Diner. More than just a restaurant, it was a place where friendships were formed, stories were shared, and everyone was welcomed like family.

Bert was widely known not only for his exceptional cooking but also for his kind heart and giving spirit. He believed deeply in helping others and made it a personal mission to give back to his community. Whether feeding the homeless, supporting veterans, or serving uniformed personnel, his acts of kindness left a lasting impression on countless lives.

A devoted member of St. Lucie Catholic Church, Bert lived his faith through service and compassion. His generosity extended far beyond words, reflected in the many lives he touched through quiet acts of goodwill and unwavering support.

On March 9, 2000, Bert married the love of his life, Lisa De Luca. Their marriage was built on faith, love, and mutual devotion, creating a strong and enduring partnership that remained at the heart of his life.

Above all, Bert cherished his family. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, a proud grandfather, and a treasured great-grandfather. His presence brought warmth, strength, and unity to those around him, and the memories he created will be forever held close by his loved ones.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Lisa De Luca of Port St. Lucie, Florida; daughter, Luisa Betrus of New Jersey; sons, Ferdinando De Luca of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Enrico De Luca of Delray, Florida, Jarrett De Luca of Miami, Florida, and Antonio Bassolino of Lake City, Florida; daughters, Chiara De Luca of Deerfield, Florida, April Pavlick of Port St. Lucie, Florida, and Mary De Luca of Port St. Lucie, Florida; along with thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Domenico and Rocco De Luca, and his sisters, Chiara and Clorinda De Luca.

Bert will be remembered for his generous heart, his unwavering love for his family, and his dedication to serving others. His legacy of kindness, compassion, and community spirit will continue to live on in all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Visitation will be held on June 6, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Haisley Tribute Center, located at 2041 SW Bayshore Blvd., Port St. Lucie, Florida.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or a local food bank.
